Paula Schulenburg is a young German artist.
In her works she experiments with kinetic, multimedia and interdisciplinary forms of expression and representation. Her main focus is on installative and performative staging.
The actions and interlocking processes on stage arise in the conflicting spheres of time, history, reality, (sub)consciousness, body, nature and destruction. Physical presence in connection with narrative elements as well as sound and film collages are intended to generate surreal-poetic images that on the one hand represent doubts and criticism on the destruction of nature, on the other hand evoke the unknown and irrational of our existence.
In her projects and performances, Paula Schulenburg partly appears herself as a performing figure and living sculpture.
She studied sociology and philosophy at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, and also performance and design at the Design Academy in Eindhoven and the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam.
Paula Schulenburg lives and works in Eindhoven and Frankfurt am Main.
